LAB 32 update

Those who think the bureaucracy begins and ends with buying the ISO standard need to dip into the LAB series and other technical documents that UKAS supplies gratis here.  These fill in the considerable gaps that the ISO management standards leave without demands for inspectability.  They are therefore very important for multiplying the burden on laboratories to prove inspection fodder for compliance audits.

UKAS has updated LAB 32, Accreditation for Suppliers to the UK National DNA Database.   Click to read in the Appendix the story of how the interactions of members of the inspection cartel works out.

Will any convictions based on DNA evidence be overturned in cases before accreditation?  What are the implications for sequence evidence after accreditation?  Will accreditation make any difference?  Will courts simply accept UKAS’s assertions without further evidence for their validity?
